Happy New Year!!! Hubby and I went into town for New Year’s Eve and got the best view in the city for the fireworks. I think this is the first year we’ve gone directly into the city to watch them. So glad we did. It didn’t last too long, about 5 minutes, but they were beautiful.
This New Year I have two goals – lose 50-60lbs before my sister-in-law’s wedding, and read at least 30 books – upping my goal from last year of 24 books. Originally I wasn’t going to try and push past 24 books/year. I feel like that’s a pretty good balance for physical books, but now that I am starting to listen to audio books, I’m counting that as part of my reading goal. I have a lot of hobbies and listening to audio books makes doing chores around the house so much more pleasant. I don’t think it matters really HOW you consume a book. If the information is still getting to you, it’s still a book read, even if it’s not “read” in the traditional sense. ๐
I also decided to start the year off with the Cinnamon spell! This is the first year I did it and I felt pretty good about it. We have a lot to save up for this year. My sister-in-law’s wedding is probably going to cost us at least a couple thousand USD to save up for in CAD. Plus, we may be possibly moving this year, depending on our job situation. At the present, I have a possibility of getting a really great job. If it pays enough to comfortably pay rent here and pay our minimum on our mortgage each month, we might stay awhile longer. This could ensure that I can acquire an office job once we do eventually move, and my husband get a higher paying job as well when the time comes. I really don’t want to stay here longer, but with an opportunity like this, I’d definitely consider it as an investment towards our future and securing better jobs than scrambling to find just anything that will pay the bills. If I can get my foot in the door and have an office job here, it will give me the confidence and qualifications to be hired at other similar positions when we move to a bigger city. So we’ll see how things pan out and if I get this new position. Wish me luck!
